Professor Harold W. Preiskel MDS(Lond) MSc(Ohio) FDS. RCS(Eng)

Professor Harold W. Preiskel MDS(Lond) MSc(Ohio) FDS. RCS(Eng), graduated from Guy’s Hospital in 1961 and won a scholarship to study prosthodontics under Carl Boucher, in Columbus, Ohio. He has been a Consultant in Prosthetic Dentistry at Guy’s, Kings and St. Thomas’ Hospital for thirty years where he founded the dental implant programme. He is one of the world’s foremost Prosthodontists and his specialist practice has gained and international reputation in tandem to his scientific career.

He was the first President of the International College of Prosthodontists, the world organisation representing the specialty and has served on its executive for many years. He was one of the founding editors of the International Journal of Prosthodontics and was subsequently Chairman of the Editorial Board.

He is a Past President of the American Dental Society of London, Past President of the British Dental Association (Metropolitan Branch), and Past Chairman of the London Dental Study Club. He was also the Chairman of the International Prosthodontic Symposium 1982, the first of its kind to be held in Britain.

He is the only non-American to serve on the Board of The American Prosthodontic Society where he is President elect.

Harold Preiskel is the author of textbooks that have become standard works throughout the world. He has written some 100 scientific articles and has established an enviable reputation on the international lecture circuit. He is the recipient of prestigious Prosthodontic awards and is active in research, teaching and practice. His latest book, ‘Overdentures Made Easy’, has been published in German, Japanese, Italian, Korean and Spanish.

Prof Preiskel gave his first international lecture over 40 years ago and is one of the world’s foremost Prosthodontists.
